AOL to dig for treasure on Davis Wolfgang Hawke's parents' property

(Via Slashdot). Last year, AOL won a $12.8 million dollar judgement against spammer Davis Wolfgang Hawke who didn't show up for the trial and can't be reached by AOL.

So, knowing that Hawke purchased large amounts of gold and platinum specifically to hide his assets from lawsuits, AOL obtained a court order allowing them to search the house and dig up the 2-acre property of Hawke's parents in Medfield Massachusetts.

Hawke's parents insist that the treasure isn't buried on their property, and suggest that Hawke buried it in the White Mountains, 130 miles to the north.

For the full story, see CNN article With shovels, AOL looks for retribution.

So ... do they actually have evidence that the goods are on the property - or are they just harassing his family? I admit, at first I chuckled at the thought, but could this be stepping over the line?

Good question, and I don't know the answer. I suspect they're just putting pressure on Hawke through his parents.
