SLAPP Lawsuits by Jerry Reynolds
Since the defamation case against me has been resolved in my favor, my lawyer's request that I not discuss the case or update the web pages in question is no longer in force. I have now "unhidden" a number of blog entries on the subject and updated the Netzilla web page for the first time in several months.Defmation case:
- SLAPP Lawsuits by Reynolds — A brief summary of the lawsuit; written before I started using blogger.
- About this Blog — A brief intro to the lawsuit and related issues.
- About the lawsuits — A more detailed background to the lawsuits.
- Gag me — An overview of Reynolds' censorship of my web page and of usenet, via court order.
- Pete Wellborn formally joins the lawsuit.
- Preparing for our motion allowing remote testimony — The courthouse is equipped for video conferencing — a facility I needed to use since one of my potential witnesses was too sick to travel, and the other had other commitments that day. Normally, a request to do a hearing by phone or by video is routinely granted, but Reynolds fought us tooth and nail on it.
- Reynolds' memo opposing the use of video conferencing.
- Progress on the jurisdiction hearing — we won the right to use video conferencing.
- Harristhal & Allison affidavits — discussion of the affidavits filed on jurisdiction.
- My Court hearing was held today — discussion of the actual hearing, with link to transcript.
- Fargo Forum and WDAY cover my case — press coverage of the hearing.
- Defamation case dismissed! — I won based on jurisdiction. Includes links to court order and press coverage.
- Second court hearing — discusses the upcoming jurisdiction hearing on the case
- Today's court hearing — discusses how the hearing went. It dragged on forever and had to be continued. The best part was when my lawyer Kelly Wallace started tearing Reynolds' friend/sysadmin Brad Allison apart. When the questions got pointed and Allison started rocking back and forth in his chair, Reynolds' lawyer Harristhal stood up and used every trick he could think of to stop the hearing, finally obtaining success with "I have a plane to catch".
- Little bit of good news in jurisdiction hearing — Harristhal's request for more expert witnesses was denied.
- Case dismissed!
- Legal documents — all legal documents are now available at rahul.net. Some are quite large (they're scanned pdfs) and most are quite boring. The highlights are the court transcripts: 28-Feb, 21 Mar, 9 May and the judges' decisions: Defamation case dismissed, Order Denying Plaintiff's Request to Call Rebuttal Witnesses, Computer crimes case dismissed.
- Documentation on the forged cancels that Reynolds or someone helping him issued in order to delete all the evidence from the usenet archives that I would have used to defend myself in the defamation case.
Update: With the dismissal of the case against me, the gag order is off. I have "unhidden" more posts and information.
